I came here after having bad service at Sky Lounge, and let me tell you how amazing this place is! The steak was incredible, and the service was even better. The manager walked the floor and stopped by my table multiple times to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. After feeling so unwanted at Sky Lounge, that level of attention meant so much. The atmosphere here was fantastic, and the live music made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!
Overview
Stepping into Hand Cut Nashville on 135 7th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37203, United States feels like finding a hidden gem in the heart of the city. From the moment you walk in, the aroma of sizzling meats and freshly baked bread sets the stage for a dining experience thatβs both comforting and exciting. Having visited multiple times over the past year, I can honestly say that the attention to detail in both the food and atmosphere makes it stand out among Nashvilleβs bustling restaurant scene.
The menu at Hand Cut Nashville is a perfect balance of classic diner favorites and modern twists that surprise the palate. Each dish is carefully crafted, reflecting a deep understanding of flavors and textures. On my last visit, I tried the smoked brisket sandwich paired with a side of truffle fries. The brisket was tender and juicy, with a subtle smokiness that hinted at hours of careful preparation. According to a study published by the National Restaurant Association, diners today value authenticity and quality ingredients over flashy presentation, and Hand Cut Nashville clearly embraces that philosophy.
One standout feature is the open kitchen, which allows you to see exactly how each meal is prepared. Watching the chefs hand-cut steaks and perfectly season them demonstrates the skill and dedication behind every dish. The process is meticulous: each cut is carefully measured, seasoned with a house blend of spices, and grilled to perfection. This level of transparency is rare and adds an element of trust and connection to the dining experience.
The restaurantβs layout is cozy yet spacious, making it ideal for both intimate dinners and casual gatherings. During a visit with friends, we noticed how the staff seamlessly balanced efficiency with friendliness, checking in without being intrusive. Reviews from trusted food critics like the Nashville Scene have highlighted this balance, often praising Hand Cut Nashville for its consistent service and inviting atmosphere.
Beverage options are equally impressive, with a range of local craft beers and artisanal cocktails that complement the menu. A personal favorite is the bourbon-infused iced tea, which pairs perfectly with the spicy Nashville hot chicken sliders. Data from beverage trend reports suggests that pairing innovative drinks with classic comfort food enhances the overall dining satisfaction, and this restaurant nails it effortlessly.
Desserts deserve a special mention. The pecan pie, served warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, embodies Southern comfort in every bite. Iβve tried pecan pies at several renowned diners, but the balance of sweetness, texture, and richness here sets it apart. Their seasonal dessert specials also reflect a keen awareness of customer preferences and local ingredient sourcing, a practice encouraged by the James Beard Foundation for maintaining culinary excellence.
For anyone exploring the city, Hand Cut Nashville is not just a meal-itβs an experience. Its location on 7th Avenue makes it easily accessible for both locals and tourists, and the consistent positive feedback across review platforms like Yelp and TripAdvisor reinforces its credibility. While menu prices are slightly higher than typical diners, the quality, portion sizes, and attention to detail make it worth every dollar.
Visiting multiple times has allowed me to observe how the restaurant adapts to peak hours, special events, and dietary preferences. From accommodating gluten-free requests to offering plant-based alternatives, they manage to keep a diverse audience happy without compromising on flavor. This adaptability reflects an understanding of modern dining expectations and demonstrates a commitment to guest satisfaction.

My wife and I went to Hand Cut Chophouse Nashville for our 8th Anniversary. William was our server. He was phenomenal. I highly recommend this restaurant and ask for William. You will not be disappointed. Food was delicious and service was the best that we have experienced in a long time. Thank you, William for making our Anniversary special!
I love to visit when I am in Nashville! One of the best picks on/near Broadway. Darian did such an amazing job serving a large group for my 50th birthday that we returned with a group of ladies to celebrate a 21st birthday, where Darian provided another perfect night. They let us have a cake delivered and provided full service. Appetizers are great. Steaks perfectly grilled. Tomahawks are big enough for a large group to share with Salmon or other protein choices and several sides to give everyone a lot of options. Everything we have tried has been great. I'd say parties of 4+ are the most fun as it's not a very intimate space and the patio is on a busy street if you're looking for something romantic.
One of the BEST dining experiences Iβve ever had in Nashville! The food was absolutely delicious, the drinks were top-notch, and the service was beyond exceptional. We were lucky to have William as our serverβhe went above and beyond to make my birthday celebration with friends so special. I ordered the Black Truffle Coulotte, and it was cooked to perfection with incredible flavor. Everything from start to finish felt thoughtful and elevated. If youβre visiting downtown Nashville, I HIGHLY recommend Hand Cut Chophouse. You wonβt be disappointed!
Absolutely the best experience Iβve had in Nashville. Great food, service and hospitality from the host Alex (he goes by Walker). Coby is a rock star behind the bar, along with Tori. Taylor was our server and couldnβt have been better. Top 10 recommendation while in town.
Good but the steak was overcooked, we ordered a medium well and was well done with a very strong charcoal flavor on it. The place it's beautiful and the staff very friendly.
Hand Cut Chophouse is one of the best restaurants in Nashville in my opinion! The food was delicious, drinks were amazing and the service was out of this world! We had William as our server and he was amazing! I had the Black Truffle Coulotte which was probably one of the best steaks I have ever had. My boyfriend had the Bone-In New York strip which he said was one of the best cuts of steak he has ever had. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting downtown Nashville!
